Works at the Croom University Hospital Limerick have now reached completion stage with final commissioning of the mechanical and electrical services. Facilities within the new building included 4 state-of-the-art orthopaedic ultra clean ventilation theatres, a new theatre recovery area and a hospital sterilising services department. The total floor area of the new extension was approximately 1,700sqm and the project was completed at a cost of approximately €11 Million. An environmentally sensitive design approach was taken in the design of the mechanical and electrical services to help minimise the impact on the environment. In this regard low energy systems were specified to include air-water heat pump systems for all space heating, water-water heat pumps for domestic hot water generation and high efficiency heat recovery chiller systems for cooling. Mechanical and Electrical service installations were provided at a total cost of approximately €5.5 Million.
