FEAKLE HOUSING, CO. CLARE - WINNER OF THE ALL IRELAND COMMUNITY AND COUNCIL AWARDS 2020

The project concerned the construction of 13 No. new social housing units including 7 No. 3 bed houses and 6 no. 2 bed houses. The houses were designed and constructed to achieve very high levels of thermal performance and air tightness that would help deliver Building Energy Ratings of A3/A2. High efficiency split type air to water heat pumps meet the heating and hot water demands of the houses and ventilation is achieved by natural means. Owing to the high thermal performance and air tightness levels, the space heating requirements are less than 30 Watts/m2. For additional energy efficiency all lighting is LED type and EC fans are used for wet room extract ventilation. This project won GOLD at the All Ireland Community and Council Awards 2020 in the Best Social Housing Initiative Section.
